Prolog
Aus „Ganymed 1“
(Moonbuggy aus dem Rennen von 2007) wurde in diesem Jahr „Ganymed 1B“. Dies ist
keine Neukonstruktion, sondern der Prototyp für „Ganymed 2“. „Ganymed 2“ ist
eine Neukonstruktion und entsteht bereits für den Wettbewerb 2009. Dieser
Moonbuggy besteht bereits zu etwa 30% und wird zu 80% aus Kompositmaterialien
(Aluminium-Carbon) bestehen. Dieses Moonbuggy soll unser Beitrag zum 40.
Jahrestag der Mondlandung werden. Zusätzlich wurde eines unserer Moonbuggys für
das „Mars 500 Projekt“
zugelassen. Die deutschen Moonbuggys der „Ganymed“-Serie besitzen einen
Frontantrieb, ein Torsionsfahrwerk und eine dreifache Klappmechanik. Die Taufe
auf den Namen „Ganymed“ (größter Mond im Jupiter-System) fand am 12. April 2007
vor der „von Braun research hall“ der University of Huntsville in Alabama (UAH)
statt.
"Ganymed 1" (Moonbuggy of the race 2007) became "Ganymed 1B" in this year. This is not a reconstruction, but the prototype for "Ganymed 2". "Ganymed 2" is a reconstruction and develops already for the competition 2009. This Moonbuggy consists already to approximately 30% and will consist to 80% of composit materials (aluminum carbon). This Moonbuggy is our contribution to the 40th anniversary of the moon-landing. Additionally one of our Moonbuggys is certified for the "Mars 500 project". The German Moonbuggys of the "Ganymed" series possesses a front wheel drive, a torsion chassis and three-way folding mechanics. The baptism on the name "Ganymed" (largest moon in the Jupiter system) took place on 12 April 2007 in front of the " von Braun research hall " the University of Huntsville in Alabama (UAH).
Most Unique Award
Der Most Unique Award
wird für den außergewöhnlichsten Zusatz am Moonbuggy vergeben. Dieser Zusatz muss
robotisch sein und beim Wettbewerb und auch später auf dem Mond eine sinnvolle
Funktion erfüllen. Wir haben uns für eine Telemetrie mit GPS-Tracking-Funktion
entschieden.

The Most Unique Award is assigned for the most unusual additive at the Moonbuggy. This additive must be robotisch and fulfill with the competition and also later on the moon a meaningful function. We decided to make a telemetry with GPS-tracking function.

Der Most Improved Award wird für die beste Verbesserung am
Moonbuggy vergeben. Wir haben über 26 Verbesserungen vorgenommen und
selbstentworfene Teile eingebaut.

Teampirit-Award
Um diesen Award zu gewinnen, muss das Team einen sehr guten
Zusammenhalt aufweisen können. Dazu gehört vor allem das Leben der NASA-Grundwerte, die
gemeinsamen Erfolge und die Außendarstellung als Trailblazer.

Best Design Award
Dieser Award wird vom American Institute for Aeronautics &
Astronautics (AIAA) für die anspruchsvollste und fortschrittlichste
Konstruktion vergeben. Es ist ein Preis von 1000 Dollar ausgelobt. Obwohl wir
im vergangenen Jahr bereits den Best Design Award erhalten haben, fertigten wir
diese Bewerbung. Wir wollen damit zeigen, dass man auch ein bereits prämiertes
Moonbuggy noch verbessern kann. Wir erwarten nicht diesen Preis zu erhalten.

This Award will assigned by
the American Institute
for Aeronautics & Astronautics
(AIAA) for the most fastidious and most progressive construction. There is a
price of 1000 Dollar. Although we received the Best Design Award in the past
year already, we manufactured this application. We want to show that also an
already awarded Moonbuggy can still improve. We do not expect this price to
receive.

System Safety Award
Der System Safety Award
wird für die beste Sicherheit des Moonbuggys und die darauf sitzenden Fahrer
vergeben. Unsere Schwierigkeiten liegen darin, dass wir zusätzlich die deutsche
Straßensicherheit und die Sicherheitsbestimmungen der Fluggesellschaft für den
Transport in die USA berücksichtigen müssen.

The system Safety Award is allocated for the Safety of the moonbuggy and its drivers. The Problems are that we also have to care about the german official approval and homologation for road sevice and the safety regelations of the airline for the Transport to the USA.
